Intro/Improvers Day Paddling from Kincraig to Aviemore.

Despite heavy rain throughout most of their journey, my 6 lovely clients on Sunday's Intro/Improvers Session had a lovely time on the River Spey ~ travelling from Kincraig to Aviemore ~ an ideal section to introduce novice paddlers and practice strokes. Lovely lush river banks with alder trees gracefully reaching out over the river.

Denist in mouth of Whale.

The photo was taken at the entrance to Katlian Bay at the end of the road in Sitka, Alaska.   The whale is coming up to scoop up a mouthful of herring (the small fish seen at the surface around the kayak).

The kayaker is a local Sitka Dentist. He apparently didn’t sustain any injuries from the terrifying experience.

The whale was just around the corner from the ferry terminal, and all the kayaker could think at the time was:
"Paddle really fast!"

Local information for Kayakists and Rafters.

Kayakists/Play-boaters/Rafters familiar with the Spey between Ballindalloch & Knockando Station will be disappointed to learn that following recent excavation work to remove the large croy/groyne, river left at the entrance to Polarder Pool, the excellent play-wave at this location (GR181408) no longer exists.
